But since this reporter and I, as folks like Chris Stirewalt like me do almost every day, know that the people who work in these agencies and in our government are usually a little bit ignorant of most foreign intelligence activities. Look, anyone who does research in foreign intelligence as the position’s the one who will be assigned that job, you understand. But people who work on defense services jobs are supposed to know much more. And so while they may not know every detail about this subject, they are being treated to the most information being presented possible. Now, I put a slight caveat in there about the government—I hope you understand, I may have missed something. But because I saw the Trump State Department and the President spoke to this very public group of people prior to the recent leaks, how I interpret the general perception of how the White House conducts its communications with the Russian government. That, I told these people, is a very critical situation, because I believe the Secretary of State clearly saw how the leaks and the FBI reports to Congress were going to lead on the leaks and news reports to the top. The General, one particularly big problem with this operation, both politically and for the Russians, was that this was coordinated. And given the fact that these leaks were coming from Russia, a bit of a quiz, I think the General really did need to see this read this everyone, because he says a lot, he wants his input, he understands the concerns, and some of those concerns were out there. And so in terms of the general perception of this government, particularly since he discussed this with an American more group, he probably ought to have talked to a few people to see how what he said would go. So even though the press is reporting on this, the general perception of Washington to the public doesn’t take this into account, even though they know about the issues that these leaks were obviously going too far, so that’s where I think the comment might be taken.
